SPRING FISHING IN IRELAND
What flies to take? That's an easy one. That early in the year you will only see a few olives, midges and possibly the odd small stonefly. I'd go with a selection of different coloured Klinkhammers in sizes 12 and 14, Adams Dry in 14 and 16 plus Grey Duster Dry in 12 and 14. If there are any olives a size 16 Tup's Indespensible or a light coloured Elk Hair Caddis would be good. A small midge pattern like Griffiths Gnat in 16 or 18 too. A big black beetle type jobbie, a coachman, timberwolf, or black and peacock spider in 10 or 12 if nothing is rising will sort them out. Don't forget to take a selection of Gold Bead Gold Ribbed Hares Ear with you.
