UK	UK FLY FISHING I love making lists like this Craig. I have a stack of things to do but this has to be a priority. You will see nothing unusual in here and the list probably shows that my fishing is generally UK based but if I only had to have 10 flies they would be (probably in order of importance) 1. Greenwell's Glory 2. Klinkhammer Special (dry) 3. Tups Indispensible 4. Klinkhammer Special 5. Gold Ribbed Hares Ear Nymph 6.Pheasant Tail Nymph 7. Alexandra (wet or Tube) 8. G& H Sedge (dry) 9. Daddy Longlegs 10. Sparkle Gnat Nick Moore WALES, THE MIDLANDS & SOUTH WEST ENGLAND FLY FISHING FLIES Hi, Thanks for your e-mail here`s my top ten favorite trout flies ,nothing to write home about but they work for me. 1.black chenille, size 10 & 8 l/s good all rounder for rainbows on all waters. 2. Montana nymph, size 10 l/s tied with lime green fritz in the thorax. deadly variant responsible for many a limit bag and my biggest rainbow. 3.black pennell,size10,12,14 standard wet. Always on one of my droppers for browns on the welsh lakes. 4.Pheasant tail nymph size10,12,14,16,18 l/s.any time any place anywhere. 5.lime green dog nobbler. size 10 l/s,chain bead head. seemingly out of fashion these days but still deadly on the right day. Especially with a few strands of lureflash tied into the tail. 6.black muddler. size 10 l/s. fished deep on a fast sinker. knocks the spots off booby`s. 7.epoxy buzzers.size10,12 buzzer hooks. fished washing line or individually on long leaders never fails on larger waters. 8.zulu.size10,12 wet fly. Another favorite dropper fly for browns. 9.bloody butcher.size10,12.wet fly.The point fly for any team. 10. Montana epoxy buzzer.size10,12 buzzer hook. black buzzer with lime green thorax. Another deadly variant. These flies I use on lakes and reservoirs throughout the midlands, Wales and the south west England, also rivers and streams in Wales and the south west. Midlands	ENGLISH MIDLAND FLY FISHING Damsel Nymph Gold Headed Hares Ear Nymph Montana Viva Black Buzzer Nymph Diawl Bach Nymph Cats Whisker Pheasant Tail Nymph Gold Bead Head Daddy Long Legs Zulu Nymph Booby Nymph I fish at a variety of still water venues. I use hook size 12 to 16 mainly on a floating line with 10-12 ft leader. Arthur Taylor, Woodley, Berkshire DERBYSHIRE RESERVOIR FISHING FLIES Small Black Buzzers Gold Ribbed Hares Ear Nymphs Beaded Gold Ribbed Hares Ear Nymphs Black Soft Hackle Wet Fly Snipe & Purple Soft Hackle Wet Fly Hopper Daddy Long Legs Damsel Nymph Black Gnat Dry Cats Whisker Viva Crystal Woolly Bugger RESERVOIR FLY FISHING NEAR DERBY I normally fish size 12 / 14 but do vary it to smaller sizes depending on where I am fishing. On Formark reservoir near Derby I tend to use larger lures such as Zonkers, Montanas, Vivas and Fritz patterns. In Barlow Trout Fisheries near Chesterfield I use smaller Gold Ribbed Hares Ears, Olives, Damsels, Emergers, Black Buzzers. In Willington Trout Fisheries near Derby I use Gold Ribbed Hares Ears, Shipmans Buzzers and Diawl Bach as this water is crystal clear and contains excellent fighting rainbows. Buzzer, db's, nemo, damsel, ptn's, hares ear, blobs, boobies, chruncher in 10 and 12's Fish for bows and browns.Fish any comp that is going on the res mentioned plus Pitsford, Draycote and Eyebrooke all within 40 mins of house
Southern England	SOUTHERN ENGLAND FLY FISHING Hawthorn, Black Gnat and Grannom in late April & early May Once the fish have tasted mayflies then Grey Wulff and various mayflies in different hook sizes. Adams, Parachute Adams, Kites Imperial and Tupps Indispensible in hook size 12 to 16. John CHALK STREAMS In the UK, I am a member of the Salisbury and District Angling Club, which covers the same waters as the Piscatorial Society in southern England. For trout my favourites are the northern 'Spider' patterns, mayfly emerger patterns I tie with CDC wings, chironomid emergers with CDC wings, Parachute Adams, Grey Duster, Diawl Bach, Black and Peacock, Gold Head PTN and small matuka patterns. I fish all over the worlds and find that this selection catches me fish wherever I go. If I was limited to one fly for trout it would be Greenwell's Glory wet and dry. I love your flies and website! Red or Green Cheek Holo Diawl Back size 10 - 12 2. Flexifloss Bloodworm in size 12 3. Orange Fritz (Krystal) short Shank Lure with plastic bead head size 10 fished on an intermediate line. 4. Black Epoxy Buzzer ion size 12 5. A strange looking marabou damsel with sticky out eyes in size 8 Usually fished in moderately deep Lothian Lochs and Tarns with water from to clear to fairly clear. Jim Freer SCOTTISH SALMON FLIES I fish all the classic rivers in Scotland, and the Tyne, for salmon. For salmon I use Ally's Shrimp, Cascade Willie Gunn, and Green Highlander as a 'change' fly. Wales	FLY FISHING IN WALES My top ten flies are as follows: 1 - Damsel Nymph 2 - Orange Montana 3 - Cats Whisker 4 - Epoxy Buzzer 5 - Bloodworm Goldhead 6 - Dragonfly Nymph 7 - Olive Scud 8 - Orangey Booby Nymph 9 - Orange Hopper 10-Black Gnat I try and fish a variety of water but mostly its Llandegfedd, at the moment it's quiet due to the recent hot weather but September often produces great catches. Hoppers on the surface can be deadly then. I also fish the river USK. It has some of the best wild brown trout fishing around. Ok it's difficult on the fly but when you catch one it's worth it because they are lovely fish.I always put them back.Sometimes I also fish the River Monnow, Monmouth, for greyling using Nymph methods.
